THE POP EXPOSE – Remembering ‘Graeme Edge’!

Story by Mitchell Smith
Well hello everyone. Today I’m remembering long time music great Graeme Edge, born in 1941 in England and passed away this past week at the age of 80. Edge is best known as co-founder and drummer for the Moody Blues. The Moody Blues have several hits over the years including “Nights in White Satin”, “I Know You’re out There Somewhere”, and “Your Wildest Dreams”. The band was a pioneer in Art Rock and Progressive Rock.

The Electric Moog Synthesizer can be heard in many of there songs, an instrument created by Robert Moog and popularized in the sixties and seventies by bands such as the Moody Blues, The Doors, and The Grateful Dead. Edge helped get the band together in 1964 and after a brief hiatus in 1974 they got back together in 1978 and are still performing today. Edge retired in 2018 and was the last original band member left in the group. Edge was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the same year.
Edge had a hand in everything the band did and he stuck in there as long as he could. The Band has a unique style and they have some very interesting videos. I actually have one of their albums on cassette tape. Edge and the Moody Blues had a long successful career and he will be missed dearly in the music industry, but his impression will be left for many years to come. RIP Mr. Edge
